ARTS EXPO 2010 ARTS IN THE NEW DECADE
brought together over 150 area arts lovers  to celebrate film making in West Orange, poetry writing and sharing, an outstanding collection of juried art, a wonderful show of student art, and a rousing interactive exploration of rhythm and music. Attendees took part in an interactive video project,Residents Speak Out to Celebrate West Orange Arts.”

On hand to talk about their films were West Orange Film Society Chair and Emmy award winner Ken Mandel, Oscar winner Patrick Wright, Matt Stryker, Eli Shapiro and Rob Aden. Also shown were films by Black Mariah Film Festival Chair John Columbus, Nick Marucci and Thomas Edison & Edwin Porter.


Adult poets and facilitators included Frank Niccoletti, who organized students from Seton Hall Prep and West Orange High School, plus WOAC Board member Peg Vassallo joined by Mary Ann Siebert, Marilyn Hubbard and Marilyn Mohr. Special thanks to WOHS English faculty member Tanya Thomassie.

The juried art show winners were Ken Hamilton, George Kopp, Sally Sanders, with honorable mention to Mansa Mussa and Jerry Weinstock. A framed work donated by noted photographer Bill Cofone was won by Joe Gardner.

Arts Expo celebrates the arts with a juried art show, a children’s art exhibit, a  community arts project, lectures, forums, music and a poetry writing workshop and open mike.  Each Sunday brings family fun day! There is an interactive performance that appeals to all ages and a related children’s craft project.
